Curious about how AI is impacting the blogging industry?
I’ve collected 39 AI blogging statistics that highlight how AI is transforming the way we blog.
Take a look at the numbers:
AI Adoption and Usage Trends
How many bloggers use AI in their daily workflows? Which types of bloggers are more likely to use AI?
- AI for different blogging use cases: In 2025, 80% of bloggers use AI for a variety of tasks.
- AI adoption on the rise: The percentage of bloggers who use AI increased by 15% from 2023.
- AI wasn’t always trending: Interestingly, almost no one was using AI for blogging in 2022.
- AI in digital marketing: 75.7% of bloggers and content specialists in the digital marketing space use AI.
- Gen Z bloggers use AI more: 75.3% of Gen Z bloggers (18-25 years of age) are more likely to use AI.
- Millennials on AI for blogging: 58.3% of younger Millennial bloggers (26-35 years of age) are more likely to use AI, while only 50.3% of older Millennial bloggers (36-45 years of age) are inclined to do the same.
For Master Blogging, AI tools have made their way into certain aspects of my daily workflow. For example, Jasper is my go-to AI assistant for brainstorming and outlining blog posts, whereas Grammarly automatically detects any quality issues in my first drafts.
These tools streamline some of the most time-consuming tasks in blogging, giving me more time and energy for the stuff that really matter.
AI Features for Blogging Drilldown
Great — we now know that the majority of bloggers use AI in various ways. The question is, what specific tasks do these bloggers use AI for?
- AI for topic ideation: 54% of bloggers only use AI to generate or refine content ideas.
- AI for headlines: 41% of bloggers use AI to get help writing eye-catching headlines.
- AI for outlining: 40% of bloggers use AI to create well-structured outlines.
- AI for drafting: The good news is, only 25% of bloggers use AI to create first drafts, while only 6% let AI write an entire, complete draft.
- AI for content optimizations: After writing a draft, 40% of bloggers let AI highlight potential improvements and optimizations.
- AI for visual content: 12% of bloggers use AI to generate visuals.
- AI for email marketing: 15% of bloggers use AI to create promotional emails.
- AI for social media: 28% of bloggers use AI to create social media posts.
I’ve had firsthand experience with a few of these use cases, but certainly not: drafting, visual content, email marketing, and social media.
What would you use AI for?
Does AI in Blogging Help SEO?
While AI clearly offers huge benefits in terms of productivity, the question still stands on whether or not it can lead to positive results for digital marketing — particularly SEO.
Below are some of the insights that can shed light on this topic:
- Businesses see positive SEO results with AI: 67% of businesses state that using AI improved content quality, which benefited SEO.
- Impact of AI on SEO: When using AI for general SEO activities (not just blog content creation), 65% of businesses saw positive results.
- AI can lead to quick SEO results: Using purely AI content (and basic SEO) can help a brand new blog generate 18,000 monthly traffic after only 8 months.
- AI’s growing role in SEO: Over 50% of bloggers and marketers believe that AI can help with content creation, keyword research, data analysis, and other repetitive tasks.
While most of my AI tools are paid, the difference they make when it comes to time savings in my workflow is unprecedented. It allows me to pour more work into higher-level aspects like SEO, website design, affiliate marketing, and so on.
Does AI in Blogging Lead to Cost Savings?
Next comes another hot question: Does using AI lead to tangible cost savings?
Take a look at what the data has to say:
- How much AI saves bloggers: While it’s hard to pin down an exact figure, McKinsey estimates that AI for content creation and marketing can improve productivity by 15% — saving the entire industry roughly $463 billion annually.
- The majority of bloggers get positive results: 68% of bloggers and businesses reported a higher ROI with the help of AI (thanks in part to cost savings).
AI versus Human Content
We all know that modern AI comes pretty close to human writing in terms of quality. But does the data actually support this?
Let’s take a closer look:
- AI-generated drafts work: 25% of bloggers that use AI for complete drafts report “strong results.”
- …but so do handwritten drafts: In comparison, 20% of bloggers that don’t use AI report similar results.
- AI and human content perform the same: 51% of bloggers and SEO specialists state that AI doesn’t really impact results.
- AI content needs to be edited: The overwhelming majority of bloggers (93%) consistently edit AI-generated content.
- AI content is generally better: 65.8% of people think AI is actually equal or even better than humans in terms of content quality.
- …but not always: 29.6% of people think that AI is slightly worse than humans.
- AI content quality: Only 4.7% think that AI is significantly worse than humans.
- AI success for a handful of bloggers: In contrast, 9% of people think AI is much better than humans in terms of content creation.
Challenges and Limitations of AI in Blogging
While AI has already shown incredible promise in the blogging landscape, it hasn’t seen complete adoption due to a few challenges:
- AI non-adopters: 45.2% of bloggers who are hesitant to adopt AI state that they’re worried about the lack of knowledge.
- AI and accuracy issues: 13.9% of non-adopters are worried about accuracy issues with AI content.
- AI implementation issues: 22.5% of non-adopters don’t have enough time for thorough testing and implementation.
- AI and information bias: 63% of AI users found biased or inaccurate information in generated content.
Personally, I avoid accuracy and quality issues with AI by writing the content myself. If I need to look for a specific type of data, I use Perplexity to validate the authenticity of each source.
Future of AI in Blogging
So, what’s next for AI in the future?
- AI might replace human creatives: 50% of bloggers and marketers are worried that they might get replaced by AI.
- The future of AI: 21% of bloggers and marketers think that AI will be the biggest trend in the coming years.
- Bloggers feel optimistic about AI: 60% of bloggers and marketers feel positive about the rise of AI.
As a blogger, I do believe that AI might replace certain types of blogs — particularly the kind that relies on generic, regurgitated information. But if you can provide top-quality, unique, or experience-based content that can’t easily be replicated elsewhere, you don’t have to worry about AI.
Audience Engagement and Personalization
Before we wrap up this post, let’s take a look at the impact of AI in blogging through the lens of readers.
- Consumers don’t mind AI: Around two-thirds of consumers are open to the idea of AI-generated content.
- Dead-even split: 50% of consumers are optimistic about AI-generated content.
- Some readers don’t like AI: On the flip side, 52% of readers engage less with blog content if they suspect it is AI-generated.
- Tech-savvy readers prefer “real” content: For the tech-savvy Gen Z readers, 55% still prefer organic, human-written content.
Since I work around blog posts all the time, I can tell if a piece of content is generated by AI or not.
While the quality is good, AI content tends to be formulaic. While they’re not always structured or worded the same, AI posts around the same topics tend to focus on a predictable set of talking points.
Your Next Steps
AI is undeniably making waves in the blogging and marketing world.
Whether you embrace it or not depends on your goals and values as a blogger.
